Here are some money tips that I have found useful.
Always pay yourself first. Put some money into a savings account each month. Even if it's only $20 some months, the feeling of watching money grow is powerful.
If you are on a budget, take money for groceries instead of a check or ATM card. It forces you to stay within your budget.
Never take all of your credit cards with you at one time. If they are stolen, you have to replace all of them. Take only the cards you need.
Never keep IDs with your social security number in your purse or wallet. Having that number stolen opens you to identity theft. That is a problem that can take years to resolve.
Shop end-of-season and clearance sales when you can save anywhere from fifty to seventy-five percent.
If you buy something on sale, don't put it on your credit card unless you intend to pay it off that month. Otherwise the interest that you pay will negate the savings.
Always balance your checking account. Know exactly how much money you have available. With on-line banking there really isn't a reason to not be up-to-date. This way you avoid those tremendous bank fees for overdraft charges.That is such a waste of money.
Some banks allow you to link your checking account to your savings. When you have an overdraft it automatically dips into your savings saving you the overcharge fees.
Always pay bills on time. Those late fees can add up to hundreds of dollars a month if you aren't careful.
Use affirmations to increase the flow of money in your life. One I really like comes from Suze Orman. "I am a money magnet!" Write it at least 25 times a day.
