Growing Up With Wisdom

This website is devoted to helping children grow with wisdom. The adolescent and teenage years are stressful times, full of problems to overcome and lessons to learn. Research has proven that self-esteem plummets in girls during this very important stage of development. Why?

Society's role is changing for females. No longer are they required to stay at home and just raise children. (Although if this is your life's calling, it's a wonderful choice.) But the options for women today are infinite. This adds a stress to growing up that women fifty years ago didn't have.

The education system has a long history of favoring boys over girls. For most of recorded history, going to school wasn't even an option for girls in most cultures. In the 20th century this finally began to change. But there is still a prevailing attitude that boys are smarter than girls, especially in math and science. This is not true!

And then there is peer pressure. This need to conform to what "everybody else" is doing can be overwhelming. Young girls need a special kind of guidance to overcome these limitations. My hope is that they can find this guidance here.

What about boys? Growing up is also difficult for boys. Society expects them to be the breadwinner and the pressure to pick a career begins early. Boys also experience the peer pressure as do girls. And bullying seems to be more of a problem for boys than girls. All of these issues will be addressed on this site.
